Uncertainty About Pakistan One-Day Series

September 10, 2008

Pakistan one-day series is in uncertainty. Pakistan is not sure to go for their prearranged one-day series against Sri Lanka. It was planned to be held afterwards this month. But some problems occur due to the lack of sponsorship. It was the five-match limited-overs series. The purpose of organizing it was to fill up a scheduling gap, which was created due to the delay of the Champions Trophy.

The statement came out by a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman, in which he said that attempts to plan matches with Sri Lanka took on troubles. The form in which the matters are going on at the moment, it is extremely not sure that the series will be held. A final judgment on the series is likely to be announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board this week.

The eight-team Champions Trophy was planned to stage in Pakistan in September. It was scheduled from 12-28 September. But due to the uncertain security conditions in Pakistan and concerns of member teams over them, the International Cricket Council delayed the tournament until next year.

Now it is scheduled to be held in October, 2009. Pakistan hasn’t played a Test match in 2008. It was tried to arrange a tour of South Africa alternatively. But that plan foundered when the South Africa Cricket Board stated that its players were tired and need rest.
