Twenty20 Champions League Has Been Postponed

The organizing management of the Twenty20 Champions League made a unanimous decision to move the tournament to December from the month of September.

In the previously announced dates which were in the month of September there were chances that this tournament would overlap with the Champions Trophy, taking place in Pakistan.

All cricket playing countries follow an agreement that a tournament could not be organized within a week after any tournament being held after ICC sanctioning.

That’s why the decision was taken because if it happened so it could break that agreement. Eight teams are participating in that tournament including two teams each from India, Australia and South Africa whereas Sialkot from Pakistan and English Twenty20 Champions Middlesex. Middlesex needed the permission from England and Wales cricket board to participate in this tournament.

The ECB wanted that the Kent - runners-up team of Twenty20 – should also be invited to participate in that series but the organizers of this tournament showed unwillingness towards this matter because this team included two cricket players who had been found playing in the unsanctioned Indian Champions League.

Vinny Codrington who is the secretary of Middlesex said while talking to the representative of BBC Sport that their squad will take part definitely. He said that we are embarrassed to know that it is not happening in September-October and have been postponed but good thing is that it is taking place this year.

The tournament is likely to be held between 3 and 10 December. The venue for that tournament has not been confirmed yet and will be announced in the near time.

This change of the schedule affected the Test match which was decided to be held between Australia and South Africa in Perth. It is also rescheduled from 12 to 17 December.
