Symonds excluded from Australians Squad for India Trip

September 12 2008

We have made selection of two spinners i.e. McGain and Krejza). Both are internationally inexperienced players. But they could be considered as the good spinners for all situations. The selectors believe that both of them will perform very well when given chances. This was stated by Hilditch. Bryce McGain was the distinguishing leg-spinner; he proved it at interstate level matches played last year.

The committee believes that he is well fitted to the Indian conditions and bowling attacks. Bryce had a little pain on his right shoulder during India tour. He has been chosen for this series subject to good conditions. The selectors were very optimistic about him for being fully healthy in the near later. Jason Krejza made a fine season for Tasmania a year before.

He is a great option for Indian conditions. Fast bowler Brett Lee is another good option. He has represented 68 test matches for Australia. This includes eight versus India; this includes five wins, two draws, one loss. He is also in the side. He will be playing his first Test on Indian land.

The team announced from Australia: Ricky Ponting (captain), Michael Clarke (vice captain), Doug Bollinger, Stuart Clark, Brad Haddin, Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Phil Jaques, Mitchell Johnson, Simon Katich, Jason Krejza, Brett Lee, Bryce McGain, Peter Siddle, Shane Watson.
