Sanath Jayasuriya: No intention to retire after touching 39th year of life

Flamboyantly adventurous Sri Lankan cricket player Sanath Jayasuriya celebrated his 39th birthday on Sunday without showing any intention to retire in future.

Sanath Jayasuriya is the highest scorer from Sri Lankan side and the number two capped player in one-day international. His performance on Wednesday against Bangladesh in Asia Cup was a proof that he possesses the same natural talent and elegance of his game for which is acclaimed and lost nothing from that.

While talking to the reporters he said;
"I don't think about my future plans".
He further said,
"As long as I am fit I will keep on going."

The left hander having a short and solid stature got retired in the last December from his test cricket game but decided to play in one-days; that is the game for which he is having flair; made him a hero in his country and a tough opponent for others.

As all remember it was the explosive batting style of Jayasuriya which became one of the major elements driving Sri Lankans to win 1996 World Cup. His aggressive game changed the entire way usually adopted by the players in the batting of one-day international.

Mahela Jayawardene – captain of Sri Lankan team – said that there is no age factor hindering the Jayasuriya’s game.

He said;"As long as he is hungry to perform, I am sure he will keep on going"

Jayasuriya was dropped from the one-day squad visiting West Indies in April but later on he was selected for the Asia Cup match series in which six teams would play. Jayawardene said; "Sanath went through a bit of a rough period last year or so after the World Cup"
