England Captain Paul Collingwood directs attention of Cricket authorities towards growing popularity of Twenty20 series and its bad impacts on true cricket - test cricket. He said that it would badly affect the future of test cricket which is real cricket and having the true essence of game.

Twenty20 is very hot in news and headlines are full with the twenty20 match news. Collingwood said that these matches are moving the attention of the investors away from test matches; we should not neglect that true game. Twenty20 match series is getting more and more popular and it lessens even the interest of people in one-day matches; now it is the time to decide what we want from this game in future; we should make up firm policy towards it.

The popularity level of test cricket is going in downward direction due to this new phenomenon of twenty20 and we should take proper measures for keeping this game in forefront again. Collingwood emphasized that money should not only be given upmost priority in the cricket.

Collingwood commented that this twenty20 game has ended up the great test style due to the great involvement of money in this game.

He said that it would be extremely annoying and nerve-wracking to play only for the money. We should save it for future generation and the game should only be the main objective of players. Collingwood told that when he was young boy, he only thought of playing in the World cup and winning the ashes series. He said that our new generation is growing up with dreams to play these money-oriented games, which is not good for future of this game.

He further said that it would be great thing if we try to bring the test game up turning it into profitable game with the offerings similar which are made to the twenty20 matches.

He said that it is a big issue of present time and we should look the game from the very top and see in which direction the cricket is going.

Collingwood said that today’s big investment on the cricket game remain at risk and demand honesty from the player side in many ways; one of them is his fitness to play. He said that in many ways we are entering into the uncertainty situation – because it was never ever been the situation like that; no one played much for money like that ever before. Every one should feel his responsibility and play his role and be as honest to the game as he could be.
