After ending ICC President Percy Sonn from 2003 to 31 December
2006, ICC has received two nominations, and Chairman of
the England and Wales Cricket Board David Morgan and President
of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Sharad Pawar
have been nominated to succeed current ICC President Percy
Sonn when his term ends.
These nominations have been received at the deadline of
31 Dec 2006 for next ICC President.
New system has been put in place in June 2005 for appointing
new President. According to Nomination Committee will shortly
meet to announced or nominees and then prepare a report
to ICC Executive Board with its recommendations in Mar 2007.
After receiving the report from the recommendation report
from Nomination Committee, the board will refer it in Annual
Conference in London next June. In this meeting the voting
will be held. For wining the majority the nominator has
to take 2/3 of 10 full Member at this meeting.

and Imran Khwaja (Associates and Affiliates).
"This is the first
time this method of selecting the ICC President has been
employed," said Dr Muttiah, chairman of the ICC Nominations
Committee.
"It is a fair and transparent process and one that
we believe will ensure the most suitable candidate gets
the job," he said.
Current ICC President Mr Sonn began his two-year term at
the ICC Annual Conference in 2006. The Board has the option
of extending Mr Sonn's term to a third year. If not, his
successor will take office at Annual Conference 2008.
