Muhammad Asif Safely Returned Home

Muhammad Asif (25) is having good position in Pakistani cricket team and is among the best fast bowlers of Pakistan. When we see to his game record it is splendid; his test match record shows 51 wickets on his account in 11 matches and in one-day matches he has taken 36 wickets playing 31 matches.

That was a view to his cricket history but when take a view to his repute as a player, we see that it was not the first time he received allegation for drug use. Not to go very far, two years ago in November 2006, he with his fellow player Shoaib Akhter was banned for taking steroid nandrolone – performance enhancing drug.

PCB later on removed the sanctions on both players by saying that the substance was not taken intentionally.

That verdict made by PCB was challenged by WADA – World Anti-Doping Authority – which is the only Court of Arbitration for Sport based in Lausanne, city of Switzerland. The court said that PCB has no legal power to reverse the decision.

Now with this repeated incident, Wada is expected to bring pressure to International Cricket Council regarding this latest drug case of Muhammad Asif and would stress on council to take action against him. Since ICC is a signatory of anti-doping codes of Wada; it would definitely consider it seriously if asked.
