Yesterday, Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood showed a thrilling and responsible game at Edgbaston. The folks present in the ground were really amused and moved by their game.
The cricket ground was totally packed. England had almost lost their hopes for winning the third Test. Now England is back into the game and hoping to win that series.
Pietersen’s brilliant 94 delighted an enraptured cricket crowd and audience watching the match at their homes but Collingwood added more with his sixth Test century making the memories of game to remember for a long time.
Pietersen was just to complete his 14th Test century but he perished just six runs short. Peitersen and Collingwood jointly added 115 to the England score. After his dismissal, Tim Ambrose joined Collingwood. Collingwood in his companionship added 76 more runs to his record. The day ended with a lead of 214 runs.
It happened just few times that Collingwood played brilliant game than Pietersen; just three times. When Peitersen was playing at 94 and was just six runs away from his 14th test century.
He hit for six but was caught at long on. On the same score of 94 Collingwood completed his century by taking the same style and hitting Paul Harris for six.
Not much amusement was shown by the player because he knew that there is much to be done ahead. The real amusing moment will come when the last wicket of South African second innings will be taken.
In just 100 minutes Collingwood and Pietersen took their team out of the perilous stage to the optimistic position by adding quick runs to their side.
When Collingwood came on the crease England was 104 with the fall of 4 wickets. England was having a slender lead of just 21 runs. Not only the third test series was at risk but Collingwood himself was at a critical position and his test career was on the line. The striking response of Collingwood was just as could be expected from any fighter player.
