Australia And New Zealand Will Possibly Boycott The Champions Trophy

He said that safety of the cricket players is of number one priority and we are amazed to see that ICC put this down which is really disappointing. He said that I talked to all of the players in our squad and not found any one of them comfortable about travelling to Pakistan.

On Thursday, the ICC got the views and votes from all of the cricket countries in the council. They finally decided to stage the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

The decision was made despite of the strong opposition from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and England.

Few consecutive incidents occurred of suicide bombings in Pakistan.

Despite of all that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says that their country is safe for the event. India strongly supported Pakistan at Thursday voting procedure. However ICC assigned the duty to the special task force to visit the country and forward their findings to the ICC.

This committee will ensure that security arrangements are in place. Five tournaments of this Champions Trophy have been held till now. The last tournament was won by Australia in India two years ago. While in 2000 New Zealand took the trophy; that tournament was held in Kenya.
